Diapason reports the death of Suzanne Sarroca, a dominant figure at the Opéra over four decades.

Starting out as a mezzo, singing Carmen and Charlotte, she became Tosca in 1951 and remained a soprano for quarter of a century before reverting back to mezzo.

She sang mostly in France, Belgium and Switzerland, with two spells at Covent Garden, in 1958-59 and 1964–65.
