Alphonso Davies scored CanadaIt was his first goal in a men’s World Cup, but it was Croatia, led by a brace from Andrej Kramaric, who came away with an impressive 4-1 Group F victory that ended any hopes of the North Americans’ advance .
After Davies scored with a ball head just over a minute into the game on Sunday, Croatia showed their class with Kramaric’s equalizer in the 36th minute and Marko Livaja put the 2018 finalists ahead just before the break.
Croatia got two more in the second half, Kramaric got his second in the 70th minute and Lovro Majer scored in stoppage time.
Croatia join Morocco at the top of the Group F standings with four points and now only need a draw in their final game against Belgium to progress. Canada, in their second time in the World Cup, is bottom of the table and still looking for their first win.
