The Sims 4 is getting two new kits this week (the smallest and cheapest level of DLC it offers today): lacy and printed underwear, and a collection of items to make your Sims’ bathroom furniture as messy as your own. Both will be available for purchase (presumably for $4.99 like other kits) on Thursday, January 19.
The “Simtimates Collection” is actually a collaboration with the clothing brand MeUndies (opens in new tab) including styles that “flatter every body with fun prints that exude individuality and personality,” says Electronic Arts. It includes a set of different pieces from briefs to bras to matching sets in different pattern swatches, some of which naturally match patterns you can buy for your real body on the MeUndies site.
The second pack is more clearly called “Bathroom Clutter” with “cute wall decals for kids to grandma’s dentures, this kit has something for everyone.” The promo images include lotions, combs, used toothpaste, electric toothbrushes and hair dryers, among others. I’ll admit, I tend to cram my builds with the same few combinations of towel, toothbrush, and soap dispenser, so a little variety wouldn’t hurt.
For my money it was a bit cooler back then Maxis along with a custom content creator for Sims to design acrylic nails for the Spa Day package update than an underwear brand. And junk is all well and good, but there is a lot of very good Sims 4cc out there, including junk, made completely free by other members of the community. But the Sims series is built on the back of DLC, so new kits are for those of us who yearn to clutter up our builds.
If you’re hoping for some bigger news, it’s coming later this month. EA earlier teased several upcoming announcements including “one BIG update, two unique packagesand an expansion pack,” along with a community livestream on Tuesday, January 31. We can probably expect to hear about the other two items on that list right before or during the livestream.
