Uruguay will be disappointed that it failed to get past the resolute South Korea after hitting the post twice.

Uruguay and South Korea started their World Cup campaign with a hard-fought draw, in a fast-paced match that ultimately missed the cutthroat finish.

Both sets of fans cheered their teams on in the goalless but still entertaining affair at Doha’s Education City Stadium on Wednesday.

Uruguay came closest when Diego Godin hit the post with a header in the first half. Federico Valverde hit the post again in the 89th minute with a long range attempt.

South Korea also created some half-chances, but will be disappointed not to take advantage of some exciting counter-attacks.

More to follow.
