Iron Gate Studios has ring in the new year by sketching his plans for Valheim in 2023 (opens in new tab). The Viking survival sim launched in February 2021 in early access and, despite its high level of glossiness and wildly positive reception, remains in that state. The studio believes the game is ready once three biomes are added. The first is the Mistlands, the subject of last year’s major update, and this year is all about the Ashlands.

The Ashlands will apparently be “very different from what we’re all used to”, being “a large piece of land in the far south of the map, rather than small islands scattered around the world”. And unlike Mistlands, whose development was kept secret until almost release, the studio says it wants to be transparent and “show you a lot more of the process.”
